About me and my cattery

My name is Mascha Boon. From a young age, I wanted to have Ragdolls, but at that time, they were not available in the Netherlands. In my early twenties, I bought my first Ragdolls from catteries in the Netherlands: a blue bicolor female, Ronja Joanna, and a blue colorpoint female, Allison. In the following years, I acquired more cats, including some from abroad, such as from the United States.

Under the cattery name The Puppetshow, I had several litters, with my last litter born around 2008. Initially, I focused on traditional lines and breeding true bicolors, but later, I fell in love with red and tortie. With a red mitted female, TrickOTreat, I had two litters: one with four torties and a red male, and another with five red males. One of the females from the first litter is now 20 years old. Tricky lived a happy life with us until she passed away at almost 19.

Around 2009, I decided to stop breeding. But I always missed it, so when the time was right, I wanted Ragdolls again. And I really wanted to have kittens in the house again and contribute to this beautiful breed, so it was only natural for me to start a cattery again.

As many things in my life have changed, it was time for a new cattery name, and after much brainstorming, it became Botanicats. The plan is to give all kittens botanical names—the possibilities are endless, such as trees, plants, flowers, and herbs. My goal is to breed healthy Ragdolls on a small scale, adhering as closely as possible to the breed standard and Ragdoll temperament. Botanicats is a small cattery with only a few litters per year; the kittens grow up in the living room and are well-socialized.

Botanicats is registered with TICA. All animals are tested for FIV, FeLV, HCM (DNA and ultrasound), and PKD (DNA and ultrasound).
